Dugdales have been busy relasing some wonderful new collections in time for SS25.
SPRING JACKETING - Lightweight wool, silk and linen, 9-10oz
We now have Dugdale Brothers Spring Jacketing bunch available.
It's a welcome addition with Dugdale entering the wool, silk and linen market
The colours and patterns are inherently English, but with a slight modern twinge. There's a lot of blues, and lot of autumnal textures. There are a lot of cloths that are eminently wearable.
The cloth has a very soft handle yet still feels abundant in the hand.
They will make up wonderfully easily. The cloth has a handle and body that leads itself towards solid makes.
And have the longevity and durability that Dugdale are known and revered for. The bunch is limited edition. We don't expect it to be around forever. So we would recommend early viewing.
TROPICAL BREEZE - 10oz 2-ply “cool-twist” Wool
Dugdale have also launched a new bunch called Tropical Breeze which is a 10oz cool (high) twist wool.
High twists have come a long way over the years. Each season we see more softness, more wearability and higher tactile response. And this collection is a wonderful step in the right direction.
The cloth is available in a wonderfully modern selection of plains alongside a few more oversized glen checks.
The cloth has a very soft, yet firm handle and is very cool to the touch
The edges of the cloth have been slightly singed to tidy up the faces and promote a more open weave, leaving a very soft and supple handle.
We'd recommend this massively for overseas weddings as it will breathe like a dream and travel wonderfully.
We would recommend it massively for anybody with large thighs or anyone requiring high levels of durability from a summer suit.
It's also a perfect wardrobe builder and one to form the basis of a solid wardrobe.
Highly recommended, and will be highly sought after. It is a current bunch so we do expect it to be around for a while.
SUMMER CASCADE - 10oz 50% Linen and 50% Wool
Dugdale’s have also launched a new collection called Summer Cascade, which is a 10oz 50/50 wool and linen blend.
People that know me know that I have a particular soft spot for linen. However, I'm not always a huge fan of the way linen crumples and creases over long days of wear. There isn’t anything wrong with this response, it’s linen doing what linen does. But I’ve often yearned for a little more bite and crease resistance.
A few years ago Solbiati did a lovely linen and wool blend in a seasonal collection and I spent most weeks road testing that composition with great results. It got a little silly how many days I would reach for the suit and is testament to wools ability to bounce back.
So Summer Cascade is a great addition in a blend I’ve got fond memories of. Its slightly heavier than a “normal “ summer cloth but in no bad way. In fact, I’d say it’s the perfect summer weight for its intended use.
It's absolutely laced with linen's texture and linens characteristic but has more performance through the 50% wool addition. It’ll will work very well as jacket in and It’ll also work just as well as a complete suit.
I would recommend this bunch made up as a suit with the jacket styled so you can break it up. You'll get a wonderfully long and pleasurable suit that will just age better and better.
It’s a pretty soft cloth right off the mark and doesn’t have the break in period associated with other pure linens.
Highly recommended and should be around for a while.
