Everyone knows Colmore Tailors harbours a deep appreciation for finely woven, superfine wool, whilst holding a reverence for fabric that is unmatched by many of its competitors – but if you didn’t know already, the team at Colmore Tailors also appreciates a verre effronté of delicately crafted, fine wine
It turns out that Colmore Tailors is not alone in its love of such fine favourites, so, it seemed only natural for us to bring the two together - to set the scene for a perfectly balanced evening amongst friends, clients, and suppliers, where wool and wine become the VIP guests.
We opened the doors of Colmore Tailors last week to a discerning bunch of sartorial gents and treated them to a festive evening of networking, tailoring, viticulture, and wine tasting.
THE LAUNCH OF THE CITYCHORE
Things got underway with the launch of our CityChore Jacket - a tough, handsome, jacket that’s available in a range of cottons, corduroy, wool, and cashmere. Guests were able to try out the range on the night and take advantage of the 25% discount that is available throughout December.

Rob Charnock - Dugdale Bros & Colmore Tailors - Wool & wine
The backroom hosted the charismatic Rob Charnock, owner of Dugdale Bos & Co, who captivated our guests with a smorgasbord of stunning heritage cloth – and spent the evening eloquently delivering a Yorkshire-style masterclass in the manufacturing of their cloth since 1896. Reminding us why Dugdale Bros are such a world-renowned supplier of fine cloth and why they are the preferred choice of bespoke tailors across the globe.

Stars of the show included the Golden Square, 13oz wool cloth linked to Malcolm McLaren - a rich and powerful 10oz Antique Black Watch tartan - and Portobello Sunset, a stylish 10oz Italian-inspired caramel cloth. Guests were also treated to a preview of Dugdale’s forth-coming Fearnought collection – a handsome range of stout cloths inspired by the endeavouring spirit of the early 20th Century.

FOR THE LOVE OF WINE…
Chris Connelly - Providing Wine Tasting at Colmore Tailors - Wool & Wine
Back in the main room, guests were providing a warm welcome to the splendid collection of Christmas-inspired wines, personally selected by wine connoisseur and sommelier, Chris Connolly, of Connelly’s Wine Merchants (and Arch 13). Chris was on hand with generous glasses of wine, coupled with tasting notes and advice on which wines should be present at your festive table this year.
Two bottles that were fondly embraced on the night included a triumphant Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Marchand Tawse and a wonderfully fruity and zingy St Aubin, 1er cru La Chatenniere!
The Connolly family have been carefully selecting and shipping fine wine from all over the world to Birmingham since 1976 and over the years have been responsible for providing wine lists at Birmingham’s Michelin-Starred restaurants. We were delighted to have them on board for this event.
