New Fabrics - Luxury Lambswool and Rare Escorial Wool

Dugdale Lambswool and Standeven Escorial

Brand New Fabrics from Dugdale Brothers and Standeven

New year, new fabrics.   We have started the new year with a bang and have introduced some new fabric ranges to our already superb collections.

20oz / 580grams - Overcoating

First up we have Dugdale Brothers Luxury Lambswool coatings.  All the fabrics are 20oz in weight and made from 100% lambswool.  Dugdale describe the bunch as "Superbly protective against colder weather without being too weighty, this cloth is perfect for winter garments"

The whole bunch feels like a modern take on classic styles.  With a lovely firm handle and a slightly fuzzy texture, these fabrics are a tailors dream.  They will make up beautifully and will last for many, many years.

The bunch features textured plains, herringbone stripes and houndstooth designs.  However, our favourite is the prince of wales check.   The bold black and cream check (Fabric ref 7813, shown to the right at the bottom) is very pleasing to the eye and would make up into a truly wonderful Chesterfield or Ulster coat.

9-12oz, Suiting & Jacketing

Heres we have 2 bunches, but due to the nature of the fabric, we have featured them together.   Standeven's "Toledo" and "Escudo" bunches are made from the rare and luxurious Escorial wool.

Escorial wool comes from a small number of exclusive sheep flocks found in Australia and New Zealand.   The "El Escorial" sheep originated in Spain and were nurtured and protected by Spanish royalty.  Today they exist in small numbers and are known for producing fabrics with a soft, velvet-like, handle with excellent drape.

The fabrics are very luxurious and soft to the touch.  Think of cashmere, and you won't be far off.   Both bunches feature a variety of plains, stripes and checks, in varying widths and styles.  However it's worth noting that the main selling point to this cloth is its is superb.

Both bunches have a slightly milled finish, meaning a fuzzy and mottled texture.  It's the kind of fabric you don't really have to style too hard.  Simply pick your fabric, style it up and let the cloth take centre stage.

Guide prices for these fabrics are:

Dugdale Lambswool Overcoat - MTM £1099.99 & Bespoke £1549.99
